My brothers and I went to "Hong Kong Tea House" located on the premises of the old Joo Chiat Police Station.

The place looks simple from the outside and has a poster-stand with local magazine and newspaper write-ups on it.

Glutinous Rice Style Rolls or "Zhu Chang Fen" - $3.50
Served plain, without stuffing or gravy. Chilli and sweet sauces are given on the side
The rolls are flatted and lightly seared like Japanese Gyoza.

Steamed Pork Soup Dumplings or "Xiao Long Tang Bao" - $3.80
Definitely not Crystal-Jade standard, but still passable given that its an eatery.

HK Style Shark's Fin Soup - $3.50

Rice with Stew Beef with Satay Sauce - $5.80
Satay Sauce does not have the taste of satay sauce we know and love (ie, peanut).
Beef is tender, but at the expense of taste - if it was a taste test, no one would know its beef.

Rice with Stewed Beef with Portuguese sauce - $5.80.
Its my first time taking Portuguese sauce so I don't know how its supposed to taste like.
It's not bad, but the beef suffers from the same malady as the Satay Sauce Beef (above).
It's like having marinated 'venison' from your neighbourhood zhi-char stall at the kopi tiam.
Tasty, but you just cannot tell what you are chewing.

Fried rice with minced beef - $6.00
Your standard fried rice with tiny minced bits of beef.

Salted Lemon 7-Up (my fav HK drink), Perfect Match aka Yuan Yang, Honey Lemon 7-up
$3.50 + $2.80 + $3.50

Total Damage inclusive of 5% GST: $39.40
The good thing here is that they don't have service charge! :)
Good to come here with some friends if you are not fussy abt your food.

about i-mode

I played with my sister's NEC N600i last night.
Navigating i-mode is a breeze but its wasn't all smooth sailing
- esp when i tried to subscribe to mediacrap's services.
The ability to book GV tickets is cool and at the same time it is easy to use.

The UI of this NEC phone is not as intuitive as those from NOKIA or even SE.
The input is irritating. Have to keep pressing mode to use T9.

I just got my Samsung i-Mode phone today - will be trying more of it later tonight after I charge it up.

My 2-cents on i-Mode at the moment

1. Starhub has to bring in better phones to entice subscribers
2. Local i-mode content has to improve to retain them

It's another chicken and egg situation -- content probably won't grow if subscriber base doesn't.
And SH would not want to cannabalise their own 3G market - I hope they have the sense to position it as the basic mobile-information channel and 3G for the multimedia content.

Will post pics and videos about the two i-mode phones we are using later.

Eg, you may have info for ISD or some suggestions to MHA or the for enhancing security. Instead of writing to the papers where it might be dismissed, you can send your feedback directly to the respective units.

I hope this will help in making the country safer for everyone.

At Raffles Place MRT Station

I had alerted station staff but was assured that its a rubbish bag that shops always leave outside for collection.

Shops should be discouraged from such practice as anyone with ill intention can easily slip in a bomb among the rubbish and it would escape detection as everyone will think it is a rubbish bag. Bombers can also place multiple bombs in bags outside several shops and possibly no one will suspect a thing.

This is espcially true in shopping centres or integrated transport-cum-shopping hubs.

I've informed SMRT as well as Ministry of Home Affairs on my concerns. I really hope the appropriate advisory can be quickly sent out to the management of these shops.

The first returned to Korea while the second left NYJC for SP. Maybe she's married now - we lost contact.

I don't know if its rashes or some insect bite, but I now have the map of the Indonesian Archipelago on my tummy as well as my arms. Because I was itching all night, I couldn't sleep.

Made the guys bring the safari beds, blankets and pillows to sun as soon as the sun got hot this morning.

Just showered with Selsun Blue - if its good for getting rid of dandruff and minor skin fungus, hopefully it kills whatever is making me itch.

Uninformed decision, so let me know what else helps.
(Trying not to report sick cos I've a feeling I'd get 'excuse uniform', and might have this ICT deferred)

The officer wanted to eat the cake, and I blowed out the candle for him. Then, CSM came and asked whose birthday is it. As CSM came late, he wanted the candle to be lit up again, so that he can join in the fun. Hope what Wee said comes true, that CSM will really want the candle to be lit up again.

I've forgotten how much fun Wee Wee's remarks brought us back at Brani.

Hamstrings aching.
Finally went over to the East Coast Park for rollerblading yesterday.
Gosh that place is really crowded and the roads for blader/cylists are really narrow.
Fell on my butt going down slope once - have forgotten all I learnt from beginner's class 3 years ago.

Overall, it was a good day spent.
Tonight - going to ask around mobile phone shops to see how much my Nokia 6680 can fetch me. Had traded my SE K750i (reluctantly) for that with a cash-top up. Hope I won't lose any $ on it. But first - collect my S700i which I had sent for software update, and the faulty Ngage-QD from NCC.

1- Love the LOUD ringtones/smstones (i was changing in the room when the "Higher.mp3" ringtone kicked in. I came out to scold my nephews for turning on the TV so loud, instead kena scolding from sister who said "you think your phone is a hifi ah! i cant hear my tv!"

2- The SOS cum Torch light functions (dual super bright lights)

3- The USB-charging cable

4- The small touches (eg, using self-timer, the camera shutter button glows on and off, which reminds me of the sleeping apple notebooks)

5- Customised SMS/Ringtones

6- Ability to mark several files and send via bluetooth instead of doing it one by one

7- 3D Java default game

8 - AutoFocus! Great night-mode! Good Macro! Super bright lights which brighten up even more just as the pic is taken!

9 - Missed Calls and Unread SMS icons appear even on the Time/Clock screensaver!

10 - Can view saved webpages and flash!

** I saw a Synchronisation option in Organizer which I havent played with yet. WOW!

Killed Hybee Queen at last - but should I give up my $500 SolSaber for a $1.5k Hybee Spear?
Still at Lvl 53, so I am not able to purchase the more expensive version of the same Hybee Spear that's going for $6k.
Seems a bit frivolous... If I don't buy it now, I'd have to wait till I encounter that Hybee Scout again..

On the other hand, I collected enough Kayda Gems for Valencia, and I bought the Kayda Reaver on impulse.
It's a very good weapon, even better than the Dark Engery Scepter. Beats the Ice Katana in terms of Special. I think :P

Hmm, I think I'd forget abt the Hybee Spear for the time being, just concentrate on working my level to 55 then getting the Ionic Slasher. Then when I'm at Lvl 60, I'd try my luck again.
